Miss Colleen knew that dance would always be a part of her life, even when she began her dance training at the age of three. She never found anything else that provided her with so much joy and the feeling of accomplishment as dance.
Miss Colleen had a wide variety of dance training. Aside from her daily dance class schedule, Miss Colleen traveled within the tri-state area taking master classes and dance intensives to enhance her studies. Throughout her training, she had the opportunity to perform at the Citrus Bowl, the Super Bowl, and the Miss America Parade. Embracing her professional dance skills at a young age of thirteen, Miss Colleen spent the summer training with the Rockettes, and then performing on their tour in the fall. Miss Colleen continued to attend dance performances, practice dance, and teach dance ever since.
“Dance has an overwhelming ability to make me happy and it’s the love affair that has lasted my entire life,” Miss Colleen says. She loves being able to perform, share dance with the world, and pass on her own knowledge to her students.
Additionally, Miss Colleen has had endless training in various styles of theatre and art. She is currently working with The Project Moshen Dance Company; a contemporary jazz dance group originated in Philadelphia.
Miss Colleen is SO excited to be a part of the IDA family this year! She is looking forward to watching her students learn and grow as individual artists.
“I like to encourage my students to remember that no matter how difficult or frustrating something can be, don’t let that discourage you. At some point we all come across something that we have a hard time understanding in dance, and that’s okay”, Miss Colleen says.
Are you loving Miss Colleen’s positive attitude? Her students sure are!
“Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance.
Great dancers are great because of their passion.”
