“Tell Your Story was created in August 2015 as a part of IDA’s Summer Dance Performance Intensive. I was lucky enough to have four amazing dancers cast in the piece. Their power, strength, technical ability, and above all, artistry, made it easy for me to work and choreograph on them. I am amazed at their growth from August until now and it has made me such a proud dance teacher.
The piece is about each dancer telling their own story while each individual story interweaves, influences, and references others throughout. The dancer who holds the rose is the main storyteller while the other three dancers back-up the soloist.
It was an honor to have this piece accepted into the Koresh Artist Showcase in Philadelphia in November. Rehearsing this piece for the Koresh Artist Showcase took time, patience, and determination. In the week leading up to show the dancers came into the studio every day to perfect this piece to it’s highest standards. After sitting in the audience for all three professional performances, I can see that their hard work definitely paid off.”

“Performing in the Koresh Artists Showcase was an incredible experience for me. I got a first hand view of what the professional dance world looks like. I met dancers that truly displayed their talents on the dance floor. It was such a pleasure to talk with professional dancers who at one point in their dance lives were just like me. It was gratifying to get out on the same stage as professional dancers and showcase my talent along side them. To be accepted into a showcase such as this one was an honor and I hope to go back again in the future.”

“This opportunity made me feel really proud not only of myself but also my fellow dancers. Being chosen to perform in this professional showcase proves that all of our hard work and hours in the studio truly pay off. It was an honor to represent IDA at a professional performance and to showcase Amy’s breathtaking choreography. Overall this was an experience that I will never forget!”
