The Institute of Dance Artistry hosted its first annual Summer Dance Intensive! July 21st, was the first day of this ‘intense’ week of dance. Twenty-two dancers gathered on that evening for an hour-long audition class. Not only was this audition an excellent practice tool for the pre-professional IDA dancers, it also helped the IDA faculty place dancers in their proper technique class level for the week.
The 9:00 till noon Monday through Friday classes consisted of Ballet, Modern and Jazz with an elective of either Tap or Hip-Hop. After a brief break for lunch, dancers were split up into small groups where they learned new choreography and rehearsed their dance pieces from 12:30-3:00 in preparation for the showcase. This showcase, taking place on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm, was a wonderful opportunity for friends and family to see and enjoy the hard work of their dancers. IDA studio C was turned into a black box theatre and a full house attending each night! The showcase consisted of nine spectacular dance numbers, keeping the audiences engaged for the entire show. Congrats to all of the dancers, IDA faculty, friends and family for participating in this first week of the Annual Summer Dance Intensive!
Stay tuned to hear about our next IDA Summer Dance Intensive August 19th-23rd!
