IDA and Born into the Arts “Forces” a Dance Concert

Wow!! What else can you say about all the dance brilliance and energy created by “Forces” at Temple University’s Conwell Hall. On Sunday, April 27, 2018, the Institute of Dance Artistry (IDA) presented “Forces”, an extraordinary dance concert collaboration with noted Lehigh Valley, PA dance company, Born into the Arts (B.I.A.).
The beauty of the performing arts is that in many cases the whole is greater than the parts. At IDA we teach our students multiple dance styles; ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Street Jazz, and Hip-hop. At B.I.A. the focus is on Hip-hop and company director Dominick Boyd takes that art-form to an entirely different level. Two different stylistic approaches created a series of outstanding performances that entertained and enlightened, all at once.
At IDA we offer legitimate performing opportunities for our students who have performed in front of live audiences including:
- IDA’s Black Box Theatre
- “The Switch” at Kimmel Center
- The Theater at Montgomery County Community College (multiple times for our Generations Benefit dance concert).
- Primetime at a Sixers game at the Wells Fargo Center
Under the direction of founder, Dominick Boyd, B.I.A. has become a leading dance arts innovator and destination for dance students. They have taken part in multiple major dance events including World of Dance NJ, Battle For Your Life, and Prelude NYC.
B.I.A. also participates at local competitions and Dance Events including That’s Entertainment, Barabran, and Groove DanceFest.
IDA students dance out of joy and love for the art-form creating a form of emotional electricity you’re not going to find very often. B.I.A. believes that dance is a small part of the lesson. You become free by using the understanding of sound with the power of movement and “Forces” was a beautiful and powerful demonstration of that philosophy.
Both IDA and B.I.A. rocked Conwell and all the wonderful people in the audience who made the journey to support dance. A special thank you to all the IDA and B.I.A. dancers and dance teachers who worked incredibly hard to make this happen. A great performing arts performance empties you out and leaves you fulfilled, all at once. That is exactly what “Forces” did.
