I’m a dancer, choreographer and an IDA dance educator, not necessarily in that order. It’s been over a week since that first Summer Intensive session ended and I’m still feeling the effects. The feeling is really positive and it has made a very powerful impact on my life.
There is a reason why we call it the Summer Intensive. A mass audition, a multi-discipline array of dance classes and two performances compressed into one high energy week running at light speed and beyond. But this was not just another creative adventure.
On paper you could say it’s the sum of hard work, a lot of talent in the studio and a lot of enthusiasm, energy and love but it was beyond all that. I think our director, Jamie Lipskin said it best,
“The most amazing part about teaching and choreographing for the summer intensive is seeing the day to day growth of each dancer. The feeling of accomplishment and pride that they get from completing the program is incredible. It brings together dancers of all ages and experience levels and unites them in their common love and passion for dance. They work hard every day and build long lasting friendships. Seeing them perform at a professional level after just one intense week of rehearsal is something that makes me endlessly proud. The week goes by so quickly. After it ends I always wish it could go longer. As a teacher there is nothing better than being truly inspired by your work and these dancers inspire me every day.”
The 2nd 2014 IDA Summer Intensive starts on August 18th with performance auditions on August 17th. Come join with us and get that feeling. This is something you’ll never forget.
BTW; we still have openings for our 2nd Summer Intensive Workshop.
Our 2014 – 2015 schedules are live and online.
